All the RailCam Admins give their time freely and together put in a huge number of hours to keep RailCam running and developing as strongly as we it has over the last few months.
However, running a website such as this doesn't just require time, it also needs money to pay the bills. For this, we rely on our valued subscribers. Without them, there would be no free content and no Railcam.
Costs include:
Web-server hosting
Ad-free streaming for 100+ cameras
Software licensing
Purchase of new cameras, servers & networking equipment
RailCam offers a selection of WebCams free-of-charge to all users, but as a "thank you" to those who choose to support us, we offer a substantial package of "extras".
- Premium cameras at some of our best locations.
- Our comprehensive range of live signal diagrams. These now cover all of the UK (where live data is available from Network Rail), including all of the WCML, ECML and MML
- Full access to the Railcam DATA system, which provides accessed to detailed schedules, live data and now TOPS allocations, where available.
To keep things simple, we ask for a minimum donation of £36 per year (shorter periods are also available) to become a Supporter.
It should be pointed out that this is NOT a formal subscription. The fact that we are entirely volunteer-run means that we can't offer the sort of guarantees that might be expected from a subscription service, but we do strive to make sure that the Supporter features are good value. The rate of renewals we get suggests that the overwhelming majority see it as money well-spent.
