Our diagrams combine information from a number of sources, with the live data from Network Rail.
The level of detail may vary from diagram to diagram, but generally, as they are edited for other reasons, they are upgraded with more detail such as Miles & Chains.
Miles & Chains
It's important to note that we don't aim to be a definitive source for details such as distances.
There are many sources out there (Sectional Appendix, Quail/TrackMaps etc) which are far more definitive, but they don't necessarily agree. Some of the issues which crop up are :
- mileages quoted especially in Sectional Appendices are sometime wrong - often for historical reasons.
- zero miles at a terminus will often be the limit of the railway property rather than the track limit
- Mileages shown will also be 'centre' of station at intermediate points but 'buffer stops' at terminal stations.
- staggered platforms or even platforms that have been extended can introduce discrepancies.
This information is therefore provided as a guide only.
